For me, art is living in the moments of surprise and delight: to come upon a subject that inspires; to divine the sensations… the ideas… that lure me into my paper choices; to experience the thrill of playfulness in my creative process.
Growing up on a small rocky island in New England, I learned to savor the beauty and enchantments of the natural world; to develop a powerful sense of resourcefulness and inventiveness.
The process and techniques of my paper art are my own invention, which I have trademarked “PaperSolo” – ‘only paper’… no paint, no pen, no ink… only layers of exquisite paper.
My themes, representational or abstract, depend on what I perceive is waiting within the paper.
The subjects are steeped in the best Nature has to offer, sometimes with an other-worldly twist: elegant and still, or lively and bold – always beautifully intriguing, always conveying my joy of life and inspired optimism.
Creating a PaperSolo, I feel a buoyancy within that speaks through my imagination and filters through my world of body – mind – spirit… into a universe of chromatic rhythms… pure, intense colors and harmonies… fabulous papers… all vibrating in my continual flow of creating… becoming… revelations in paper.
